Who we are
EWGO is a national nonprofit founded in 2021, working from Twic, Warrap State, with field presence in Aweil South, Gogrial, and Bor, and coordination in Juba.
OUR STORY
From committed volunteers to a growing local organization
EWGO began in 2021 as a small volunteer effort to address the realities facing women and girls in South Sudan. It has since grown into a dedicated team working across communities in violence prevention, empowerment, advocacy, and peacebuilding.
WHY WE EXIST
The challenge we are responding to
Gender-based violence is driven by unequal power, harmful norms, and gaps in protection. Women and girls face sexual and domestic violence, forced marriage, and discrimination. Lasting prevention requires stronger communities, informed citizens, and sustained social change — not just response after harm.

OUR APPROACH
Our approach
EWGO combines prevention, response, empowerment, and advocacy — working with women leaders, youth, local authorities, and partner organizations to meet immediate needs while challenging the conditions that allow violence to persist.
INCLUSION
Women and girls in all their diversity
EWGO supports women who face additional barriers — including women with disabilities, displaced women and girls, and survivors of violence — guided by dignity, inclusion, and equal access to opportunity.
