OUR WORK
Community-centered programs for protection, rights and opportunity
EWGO’s work responds to both immediate risks and the deeper causes of violence and exclusion. We combine community prevention, survivor support, rights awareness, education, economic empowerment, peacebuilding, and humanitarian assistance so that women and girls can live with greater safety, dignity, voice, and independence.
PROGRAM AREA 1
Gender-Based Violence Prevention & Survivor Support
EWGO works to prevent gender-based violence by strengthening community awareness, encouraging early action, and improving access to support. Prevention activities include outreach, awareness sessions, community information sharing, and engagement with local leaders and partners.
Where survivors require assistance, EWGO supports access to appropriate services through psychosocial support and referrals for medical care, legal assistance, livelihood support, shelter, relocation, and other protection services depending on available partner capacity.
PROGRAM AREA 2
Human Rights, Advocacy & Legal Awareness
EWGO promotes awareness of women’s rights and broader human rights at community level. The organization works with local partners and authorities to help communities understand rights, recognize abuse, and strengthen pathways for prevention and response.
Advocacy approaches include media engagement, public campaigns, collaboration with women leaders, workshops, forums, radio discussions, and community dialogue. EWGO’s longer-term ambition is to expand access to legal aid for economically disadvantaged and marginalized people as organizational capacity and partnerships grow.
PROGRAM AREA 3
Girls’ Education, Adult Learning & Skills
EWGO views education as a fundamental pathway to protection, confidence, participation, and economic opportunity. The organization advocates for girls’ education while also supporting adult learning and vocational skills that can help women and girls build practical knowledge and greater independence.
PROGRAM AREA 4
Women’s Economic Empowerment & Agriculture
Economic vulnerability can increase exposure to violence and reduce women’s ability to make independent choices. EWGO supports women’s livelihoods through income-generating activities and practical agricultural support, including promoting women farmers’ products and facilitating access to basic farming items where resources allow.
PROGRAM AREA 5
Peacebuilding & Community Security
EWGO brings women, youth, community leaders, and other local actors together to address conflict and strengthen peaceful coexistence. Community-security approaches include women’s neighborhood watch initiatives, community policing engagement, youth-for-change activities, community conversations, peace marches, and public advocacy against rape, defilement, and forced marriage.
PROGRAM AREA 6
Humanitarian Assistance & Dignity Support
In collaboration with international agencies, community partners, and South Sudanese diaspora networks, EWGO supports vulnerable and displaced communities affected by conflict and natural disasters. Assistance includes food, non-food items, dignity kits, sanitary pads, hygiene support, and solar lanterns.
CROSS-CUTTING COMMITMENT
Gender equality across all programs
EWGO recognizes gender equality as a cross-cutting responsibility. Programs should be designed not only to address immediate needs, but also to challenge unequal power relations, increase women’s participation, engage men and boys where appropriate, and strengthen women’s agendas, support groups, and economic opportunities.
Work with us to expand community impact
EWGO welcomes program, technical, funding, advocacy, and implementation partnerships that help extend quality services and opportunities to women, girls, children, and vulnerable communities.
